A Proficient Rant Concerning Item Upgrader
World of Warcraft Item Upgrades Item upgrades are a way to boost the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade, it may increase an item's Rarity or Mark Level, and also boost other stats. Upgrades to equipment in The War Within requires a specified number of Flightstones and Crests and each item comes with an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the following one by a set amount. Item Level The value of an item's basic stats increase when it is upgraded. This value is the sum of all of an item's leveled-up perks (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrading items can be expensive, depending on the upgrader and the type of upgrade you choose to perform. This is due to the fact that many perks have to be replaced to allow the item to be upgraded. Item level is a commonly used measure of power, and is visible on all tooltips for items. It can also be used as a gating requirement while queueing for dungeons, scenarios, and raids, as well as to limit the amount of PvP gear a player can wear (since PvP is capped at an lower level). The average level of an item can be found on the character sheet. When deciding whether to buy or sell gear players can look at the item level. It's a measure of the item's condition and its quality. Comparing items from a vendor's stock is possible using the level of the item. The item level can be checked by pressing the ALT key on PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. The item will be displayed with its full description, including ilvl. It can also be found by hovering an item with the mouse cursor, and then typing /itemlevel into chat. There are a few theories about how the item level calculation is done. One theory states that the item level is determined by a formula that calculates how valuable an item's stats actually are. item upgrades considers the fact that various perks have different value and that gems in sockets add to the item's overall value. This could result in a calculated item's ilvl that is often very close to Blizzard's actual level of the item. It's not the only thing that affects the level of an item. The level of the area where the item was dropped may change its stats. For instance it can add a level to the item's haste or crit score. Items that drop in higher-level situations will have a higher value. Item Stats The stats of an item can determine the fate of an item for players. The game uses a lot of them in various ways to encourage players to play with multiple weapons, and also to stop one weapon from being “the best.” The stat modifications of a weapon boost the base stats. These stat mods are then increased by a player's level. Upgrades to an item may boost its stats. The cost of upgrades is determined by the rarity of the item. A grey or white item for instance, will only be upgraded one time however, items with rare tiers may be upgraded multiple times with higher costs. Another way to change the stats of an item is to use affixes. They are stat boosts which can be added by the player to an item. The affixes can provide the item additional damage, or give a specific ability to the item (such as reviving the dead or reducing the cooldowns) or make the item unique by putting a special name to the item. Presently, all affixes are able to be rerolled by selecting them from the upgrade window and pressing the green button, which is accompanied by circling arrows. This process will cost the player a certain amount of gold as well as items which can be used to add to the upgrade gauge in the same manner as the other options for rerolling. Players can upgrade an item with a specific stat or reroll the affixes. The range of stats is determined by the item's level. However every item will include at least one stat in the range, unless they are an item that is unique, or a God Roll from a boss in a raid. This is another thing that could be changed by adding the option to upgrade the equipment without having to reroll the affixes or deciding which stats to increase. Like base equipment, it would have to be done per item and the item comparison interface will not show all possible stats simultaneously. Item Luck The Luck stat of a player stacks up to increase the likelihood of finding items as well as the properties that appear on loot drops and the strength of those properties. It doesn't, however, directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives the player the chance to upgrade gear earlier in the game. This is more useful for early game runs, since players tend to prioritize the scaling of weapons and defenses over raw damage gains. In addition to influencing item discovery, Luck also increases the probability of success when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This isn't to be confused with the Blacksmith’s overall chances of upgrading, which increase with each item level. It is also possible to be increased with the use of anti-materials such as a Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing. Weapons, shields, and armor can be made or spawn with the Luck property, which has an initial value of 40. These items can be upgraded with golden ingots, spined leather, or oak boards (depending on the type of material used) to grant an additional +40 Luck or to increase the Luck of an item up to 140. Moreover, certain items, such as the Hollow weapon, which is infused with Hollow can be outfitted to boost the damage of any damage-dealing skill by 5%. These items can be purchased in the shop or created by using the appropriate ingredients. Item Failure Upgrades to items can be costly and not all upgrades will succeed. However, there are cash shop items that allow players to increase their success rate or prevent them from losing an item if the upgrade fails. The success rate of an upgrade is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage is the chances of successfully upgrading the item and can be enhanced by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limits to the extent to which the success rates can be improved and the chance of an upgrade failing cannot be greater than 100%.. The performance of an upgrades is also influenced by the Luck of that item. Every item has an average success rate of 25% and every item that has Luck increases that chance by an additional 5%. The upgrade overlays for items are rendered above the items in the inventory. This may block enchantment effects as well as other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
